But Siaga, where did you go?

God. I dreamed a horrible nightmare last night.

Starts off:

I'm traveling around a city, meeting people and making friends. One of the friends is a Japanese girl, who's about 23 years old.

Then, I'm at my parents house, trying to find Siaga. I'm in the jeep with Dad and my brother, Adam. They know he'd gotten loose and that I'm trying to find my boy. One of the neighbors horses (they only have one, but in the dream there were three) comes by the back yard and I go running over, thinking it was Siaga, until I see that it had a blaze on it's face instead of a star.

Then I'm back in the city, running everywhere, asking "Have you seen a stray horse?" I go to the apartment of my latest friend, and ask her the same question. She says "Yes, yes." I ask "How big was it?" "Hard to tell." "About this?" I ask, holding my hand to my shoulder. "Yes, yes."

"What color was he?" I ask. She said "Brown, with black hair." "Did he have any markings?" "A white diamond, on his forehead." "And on his legs?" "Front left. About 5 inches high." She uses her hands to demonstrate a "sock" marking on her left forearm. "Where was he?" "In a ditch." I fell to my knees at that point. I asked "I take it, I don't want to see it, then?" "No... No you don't.." She looked so upset. I was so upset. I didn't fully believe he was dead yet though, because I hadn't yet seen the body. I thought "Maybe there's another horse who looks like he does who escaped."

Then I was back in my apartment, sitting on the computer.

I was reading a blog by Jeni from the stable, who loves Siaga to bits, and she wrote something along the lines of "Karat wasn't too happy about riding in the woods. It took me a while to figure out why. There was a horrible stench of rotting meat. We kept riding... until we came across a horse I know called Siaga... He was laying in a creek, dead." She had pictures. He was laying in the creek, on his back, feet up in the air, head twisted around at a weird angle. That's where it hit me fully that Siaga was dead. It hurt so badly that I went numb. I was in so much pain I couldn't feel anything else. I woke up then, from bawling my eyes out in my sleep.

Race Horse!

So I dreamed last night that I was at this place... and I looked out the window to see a race horse going by, on the way to the track. I get excited that there are horses around and so I go outside to find the stable. I find this one stud, locked in his stall. He's massive. Maybe about 17hh. Chestnut with a stripe down his nose. He's pacing in his stall. Snorting, whinnying. I can see that he's lean of fat, but he's low on muscle, too.

All of a sudden, Jonathon's mom is beside me, and saying the stud is her horse. I ask his name. "Man and War." She says. I thought at first she said "Man o' War," and was going to correct her and say that names of thoroughbreds that had won major races were always retired after the death of the horse, unable to be used again. Anyways. I ask her why he's so lean, and why he looked like he hadn't been exercised in ages.

She told me he hadn't been worked because of his temperament, that everyone was scared of him. She tried to put a halter on him and he kept biting at her and demanding that that thing stay away from him. So I take the halter and finally get it on him, unharmed. I lead him out into the isle. The whole time, he's trying to bite me, but he's leading well, other than that. I get him tied up and start grooming him, and he rears up. I yank the lead and say "No!" and he comes back down and looks at me like "Whaaaaaat, lady?" So I go about my business.

Then, once I'm done, and I've curried him, brushed him, combed out his mane and tail, and took a clean rag to his eyes and nose, and another over the rest of him, and after I successfully picked out his feet, which were horrible and needed a trim, I took him to the indoor arena.

In there I dreamed that we worked on all sorts of ground rules. When I was satisfied that he wasn't going to attempt to kill me anymore, I had someone bring out his bridle and saddle and saddle pad, and then saddled him up. I swung up... and then...

I wasn't riding Man and War (aka Sparky) anymore. I was riding Siaga in the woods, bareback. His ears were back to me, and he listened to everything I told him to do and obeyed. He moved smoothly and never faltered at creek or tree or tempting grass shoots. It was fantastic. That was where I woke up. Darn.

Back to School

Highschool, that is.

I dreamed I was riding a really bumpy school bus; it would go over bumps and we'd all go flying up in the air. When we finally got to the school and got parked, I saw it was my old high school.

So I go in, and go to my old locker, before I realize it's not my locker anymore. So I go to the office lady and say that I need a schedule and a locker, and she gets the information. She asks me a question, I don't remember what, and I don't remember what I answer with, but she smiles and digs up a red paper.

My schedule. I'm scheduled to go to all sorts of classes, and all the teachers are Irish. There was only one familiar name on that list, and the class he was teaching was an Israeli self-defense class, though my mind translated the name of the class as something else.

I asked if I could get some art classes, and was told I had already taken all the art classes available. So I figured this wasn't too bad. I start off to my first class, I believe it was an English class with a woman named "Sibeal." This is the point at which I woke up. :/

Barns and ... more weddings.

My first dream last night involved finding a barn that I wanted to live in. And my June was there. June is the horse, or pony, rather, that I first loved. There were two stalls, one for Siaga and one for June. The rest of the barn was like a big living space.

The second dream, I was designing a wedding dress for Jonathon's mom. Hrm....

Even in my dreams...

I'm obsessed with designing my own clothes.

Eugh. I dreamed I was in a little room, trying on clothes. Well. Skirts. The first one was long, full, and black, and very ruffly. It had a short over skirt, also black and ruffly. On the area of the front of the over skirt that would be right at my hipbones, were two sets of corset laces, in a black silk ribbon.

The second skirt was white. It was a white mini skirt/over skirt that was detailed with lace and sequins, and was so short it barely covered my butt. On the right side, it had a skirt panel that covered only the right leg (like in Final Fantasy X-2, and Yuna's gunner costume.) This panel was full and fluffy, and had tufts of black tulle here and there.

I turned around and looked back at the mirror so that I saw it from the back. I did a few experimental belly dance moves. I made a comment that it was almost like a really strange wedding dress. Jonathon was in the room with me (ah, my boyfriend) and replied something about maybe I could wear it for that then.

I woke up then. :/

Polocrosse...

With Shetland ponies. :)

I dreamed I was watching a game of polocrosse, where it was children on little Shetland ponies playing. I kept getting distracted by this one kid, who was impatient for the game to be over , standing with his Appaloosa mare, which I think was a POA (Pony of the Americas, sort of a cross between an Appaloosa and an American Shetland.) Anyways, he was waiting on his show to start. Impatient brat. His impatience was causing the mare to be frisky and tossing her blond mane (which was dyed blond for some reason, and her name was Blondie... her original mane color was chestnut, though she herself was like a really dark liver chestnut with a blanket print over her rump) and her friskiness only made the boy more irritable and the cycle just kept going.

Finally she reared up and ran off, causing a lot of trouble and the boy asked my help and so I went after the mare, following at a walk, and not a run, until she was calm enough to approach, and I grabbed the reins and brought her back and then went back to watching my game.

Next time I turn around, I'm in a wooded area, and there's "Blondie" ... only as a human. A naked woman, an incredibly beautiful woman, with red roots in her hair that's been dyed blond, and a tail that also had been dyed blond and had red roots. She just turned around and walked off into the woods in her human body, tail swishing, her arms out to either side so her fingers and hands grazed the leaves and the bark of the trees around her.

And there it ended. It was strange.

But Siaga, you're so little.

Last night, my first dream was that I was either living with again or visiting my parents house, and went up to the barn to visit Siaga and feed him and the cats.

So I get up there, and Siaga isn't in the stall, and he's wondering around, without a halter or anything on of course, and he's only about 2 feet tall at his little withers. It seemed normal though, for him to be shorter than my thigh.

I found myself leading him back to his stall by pulling on his mane, but every time I put him there he came back out, so I gave up and looked around the barn. I saw my Greedy cat laying in a pile of straw, and started petting her... and then I saw that she had had kittens in my dream. Adorable.

That was the end of that one, and then I had a rather ominous feeling dream about rotten and moldy apples. I do not know if they were poisoned or not, they seemed to be.

I moved to California!

In last night's dream, anyways. I dreamed that my parents, my brother and his girlfriend, Mindy, and my nephew, and myself, all moved to this small mansion in California.

I walked around the house, looking it over. It was in a bit of disrepair. So I went on a walk. I find this ... cart, I guess. I don't know. It had wheels. I climbed on it, and all of a sudden I'm rolling down the interstate on the cart.

Scenery is flying by, and I'm keeping up with traffic. Don't have a clue how I'm managing that. I know in my dream, it only takes a day, but it seems like several days go by, out on the road. Eventually, halfway across the country, I decide to turn around.

I walk all the way back. Part way back, I come across Mindy and Dillon, my nephew. Further along we come across a kid I went to SAA with, who I didn't really know, but seemed to know well in the dream.

We get back to California and find a mansion with the same build as the one we had moved to, and finding we couldn't get in, climb in through the window. We promptly see that it's the wrong house, climb back out, and get on a school bus.

Now, Mindy becomes Sarah, a girl I went to highschool with. Dillon becomes some unrecognizable little boy. We stop at the school. It's a middle school. Everyone wants to go in to get food, but I'm skeptical. After all, we might be reported or kicked out or something, for reasons I can't seem to think of, and so we go in the school anyways.

The little boy goes to this ATM by the doors on the inside, and takes out a debit card to get money for food. He can't find the swipe-slot, so I swipe it for him, and then he takes care of the rest. Then we're sitting and eating, and all the little kids are staring at us like "Whaaa?"

After we eat, we're back on the road, walking, walking, walking. And in such a place, the dream ends.

I also had another dream, that I do not remember as clearly, something about a very unsanitary bathroom with bad plumbing. Walked in, decided no, walked back out. End dream, end night.

Note passing dog-gods.

You say "Wait, what?" But I'm serious. I have not a freaking clue in the world where this one came from. I'll do my best to recall all of it.

So it starts out that I'm in this place. It's like an Amazon place. Or, rather, a Mayan place, or something similar, judging by the style of the old architecture. The place is like a little village, and one section of it is pretty much abandoned because, as the people told me, "God willed it so." I get the feeling it had been some kind of illness that made everyone avoid that place.

Being brave me, I went to the abandoned sector. There was a mostly dried out pond with chunks of the architecture scattered in it. I pulled a few pieces out, to study them, and saw the carved square line geometric pattern on it. I heard a rustle behind me, and I stand up.

Here, my dream detours for a minute. Now I'm in a rather sanitary, white room. I have a broom. Theres a little dog-thing running around on the floor. I finally figure out that it's an Arctic Fox. It's very shy, and so I put the broom bristles close to it, to try and get close enough to pet it, by obviously getting close first without risking my fingers. It sniffs the bristles and then bites them, but I keep trying for a few minutes. Then I get bored, open the door, let it out, and then walk out myself.

I'm back where I started. I've heard the noise in the forest, I turn around, and there's this great, shaggy, black wolf ... thing... behind me. I understand that this is the God they were talking about. A wolf god. His head is on level with mine, or at least, I know he's as tall as I am, if not bigger, but he seems smaller. He growls at me, and it's blood-curdling. I freeze. I haven't got a clue what to do. My hands tremble. There's something in my hands. I look down and see this scrap of notebook paper. I uncrumple it and read it.

"Why have you come here?" it reads. It's not in a language I understand, or know, but I understood the meaning as clearly as if it were written in English.

I reply to the wolf, "I'm curious."

The first piece of paper blows away, and is replaced by another, this one stuffed in my sock. I fish it out, and read it.

"You must do this."

I haven't a clue in the world what it is I must do. I tell him so. Again, the paper blows away and then there's another piece of paper in my hands. It's a poem. Or something. Maybe it was a prophecy. I don't know.

"Purple is the storm cloud
Ash is what remains
And over the bridge
is gray's domain."

"I'm confused, what is this?" I say. But he turns away and walks into the forest.

So now a woman appears, and she has a basket of ashes. She asks me to hold the basket, and then dips her hands in the ashes. She pats my face, coating me in white ashes, until I am as pale as a ghost.

It seems now, a few days later in the dream, when a note flutters to my feet, my face still white with ashes. It says "Purple is the storm cloud, and your face is white with ash." The woman reappears with a ceramic bowl of smushed purple berries. She dips a finger in and smears a purple spiral on my forehead.

And then, again, a few days later, I'm digging through a box of random stuff. The phrase "And over the bridge is gray's domain." runs through my head, as I pick up a chunk of soft, black coal.

I know then, what I have to do with it. I paint my white and purple face with it, a thick black line that extends from temple to temple, around my eyes and over the bridge of my nose.

And then I know, without knowing how I know, that the wolf god is behind me. He never introduces himself, so I haven't a name for him or know if he is a god that ever existed at all, but he bows to me, and I know it's a symbol of respect and acceptance, and then I see the woman with her face painted like mine, and then all the people, with their faces painted like mine.

Wedding Thiefs!

Sooo I dream I'm in this house, alone. It's a nice house, apparently my house. I hear a "tap tap tap" on the window. I'm nervous for a moment, but I look out the window, to see someone in all black with a ski mask peering in the window. I was all "Whaaaaaat?" The person then points towards the door and walks off. So I go to the door and open it, and there is my cousin Jessie talking about her wedding that she's getting ready to have, and being all excited. Apparently she was the one in black.
Then I wake up and I'm so confused. lol.

Cigarettes and Cookies.

I dreamed that I was at my parents house and my nephew was there. It was after a family get-together, and there were empty cups all over. I grab one and rinse it out and put milk in it and get myself some chocolate chip cookies. Those were some delicious cookies... anyways. I notice my milk tastes funny, so I look in the cup to find cigarette butts in there. Ew. That was basically it. : |

Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Everything was all jumbled last night as well. I remember snowballs and rain and trash and school and telling some girl off, but I don't remember what for. :| Strange.

Edit:

Being as this is the second night in a row that my dreams have included snow and trash, I decided to look up the meanings.

Snow:
To see snow in your dream, signifies your inhibitions, unexpressed emotions and feelings of frigidity. You need to release and express these emotions and inhibitions. Alternatively, snow means that you are feeling indifferent, alone and neglected. If the snow is melting, then it suggests that you are acknowledging and releasing emotions you have repressed. You are overcoming your fears and obstacles.

To see dirty snow in your dream, refers to a lost in innocence, impurity and uncleanness. Some aspect of yourself or situation has been tainted.

Trash:
To dream that you are throwing away garbage, suggests that you are kicking your old negative habits and throwing away your bad characteristics and unwanted traits. Alternatively, garbage indicates that you are not taking responsibility for something.

To see piles of garbage in your dream, represent rejected or unwanted aspects of yourself.

It's all a jumble...

Kinda like a dream-time jigsaw puzzle.

My dreams last night made no sense. They made sense while I dreamed them, but when I woke up it was all strange images that didn't seem to go together at all.

I remember a party at my parents house. Several giant mounds of garbage. Lots of snow. Beautiful landscapes. Trees with the top halves of their trunks cut off. Boxes of cereal. Just a bunch of weirdness.

Murder, everywhere!

So last night before we went to bed, Jonathon and I watched a movie called "Kick Ass." It looked like it was supposed to be a comedy movie in the previews, and it did have some very funny parts, but it was a more serious sort of comedy movie. Lots of ass-kicking (Of course!) and lots of blood flying every which way we looked.

I have no doubt this influenced my dreams last night, as I dreamed:

I was at a wedding. Everyone, I mean everyone was dressed in white. So we're all outside before the wedding takes place, and part of the wedding party (I think they were supposed to be in a parade or something) starts going insane and shooting people. The most vivid scene out of it that remember was that I was sitting way off to the side, watching everything going on. A woman with long blond hair comes running out from my left. There's a dead man on the ground in front of her. Just as she gets to him (Intending to step over him and keep running) she gets shot, and I actually see the bullet enter her neck on the opposite side, and then leave her neck on the near side and then pass me. The look on her face was indescribable. Like "Seriously? Now? This is what it all comes down to? This is the end? Just like this?" I guess you could call "Incredulous." Or something. Needless to say she fell dead right there, after tripping over the dead guy. The other people are still going insane and shooting everyone. I sigh in my dream, and that is where it leaves off. The end. No heroic act from me. Hrm.

Long feathers and small animals.

So last night, my first dream was that I was walking through a craft store, looking at a variety of beautiful, colorful, long feathers. I've been wanting some long feathers to make some earrings with in the waking world. Earrings like these. So beautiful. Anyways, I wanted to make a pair since they are so expensive, so apparently I dreamed that I was picking out my feathers. Not too horribly weird.

After that, my next dream was that I was in a church, yes, a church, because the happenings of this dream were really weird. So I'm in this church with my mother. We're talking about little things that are happening in our lives, and then I'm suddenly fighting a "ground squirrel." If you take the time to look up a ground squirrel, you'll see that it's also a chipmunk, but I wasn't dreaming about chipmunks. It didn't look anything like a chipmunk. More like a ground hog. A small ground hog. And when I say fighting, I mean fighting. To death. Throwing punchs and stuff. Though a groundhog doesn't have fists, so it was trying to bite. I remember at some point in this dream I wanted to brush its teeth and make it wash its mouth out with an antiseptic so that if it did take a chunk out of me there was less risk of major infection.

What crazy dreams I have...

Silly girl

Last night my dreams were sorta decided by the fact that I spent so much time writing about the one from the other night.

I'm walking down a wooded trail with my grandmother and my best friend, Jacy, who I've been friends with since first grade. We are chatting about this and that and the other. A phone rings, and grandma grabs a branch off of a tree and starts talking into it and hands it to Jacy, it's for her.

Some guy or some such. (I obviously really want her to get her bum in gear when it comes to dating.) She gets off the phone. We keep walking. Suddenly we are in an old time village, with little cottages and such. There's a barn like structure and a fallen tree beside it. We walk on through and past the barn place.

Eventually I have to turn around and come back, and when I pass it again, the huge fallen log is sliced neatly in pieces. Jacy and grandma aren't with me. I keep going, get a little lost, and turn around and come back. I haven't seen anyone at the village yet, but now the log is gone. I peek in the barn. I can see that it's like a blacksmith shop, and the wood is stored in the back. There's a giant of a man hoisting one log section up on top of another. When he gets it in place, I call out.

"Hello?"

"Eh? 'Oo's there?"

"I'm lost. I don't know where I am."

"In the village, miss."

"I can see that. What is the villages name?"

"Let's go for a walk."

"Ok..."

So we go for a walk. We find a place in the woods and sit there and talk, and I suddenly hear an angry chattering. A very unhappy squirrel is sitting in a tree. I pick up a stone and wing it at the squirrels face. It falls to the ground, and the man gets it and kills it. "Dinner," he says. This is where I wake up. What a strange dream.

What is this?

First, we all know what a dream is, that thing that happens at night when you sleep. However, not everyone knows the definition of 'aria.' My dictionary tells me it means "A long, accompanied song for a solo voice, typically one in an opera or oratorio. (By the way, an oratorio is "A musical composition for voices and orchestra, telling a sacred story without costumes, scenery, or dramatic action."

Anyways, you now ask, what does an aria have to do with dreams, and what is this blog about, anyways? First question first. I called this blog "An Aria of Dreams" because my dreams often seem like music to me. They don't always make sense, but they almost always have a beginning, middle, and an end. And I just liked the name. I wanted something whimsical and beautiful, because the dreams I have aren't always such.

Second question: this blog is where I'm going to document every dream I have. Starting now. I don't think I'm going to go back and list every dream I've ever had, because my dreams are prolific and I remember dreams almost every morning and have several a night. I want to chronicle this because my dreams often reflect my life, usually in a roundabout way, and I want to be able to come back to look at them without seeing the exact specifics of my life. Also, typing is much faster than writing.

As a beginning taste, I'm going to share a dream I had the night before last.

I dreamed I was walking down a suburban road with my maternal grandmother. I was carrying paper towels, it was a warm summer day, at about 5 or 6pm. We walked into her house. It was dark. She flipped on the light, and I see a man in black clothes sitting in the corner. I don't recognize him so I start freaking out and telling him to leave and get out of her house. She was completely nonchalant, went right up to him and gave him a kiss then introduced him as her boyfriend. (She got married recently, almost a year ago, so I don't know why I'm dreaming this.)

Anyways, I was freaked out a little, so I told her I was going on a walk. By then it was about 7 or 8pm and the sun was setting and everything was golden. When I stepped out the front door, the landscape had completely changed. I will do my best to explain the lay of the land.

When facing the house, there was a woodland area to the back and to the left of the house, with a narrow stretch that ran alongside a 7 or 8 foot high hill slope to the back and right of the house. On the other side of this stretch is an old corn field. I say old because while I can tell that corn once grew there, that had been a few years ago, and nothing else grew there now. To the far right of the house and the corn field was a small river, on the other side of which was a stretch of trees and then on the other side of those trees, construction workers building some big structure. There's cranes and a city in the background.

Anyways. I walked to the right of the house, toward the hill, and scrambled up it, for some reason hiding from the construction men on the other side of the river. When I got to the corn field, I walk along the trees to the left of the house. I reached the back of the corn field, and here the woodlands wrapped around the butt of the field. (The field, by the way, was shaped like a giant tear drop.) There were felled logs laying here and there across the fat end of the field. I noticed one in particular that was splotched with white, though it looked golden from the setting sun. A sycamore tree. I love sycamore trees. Seriously. They are my favorites.

I nudged the sycamore log with my foot, and it rolls over. This is where the fun starts. The ground started shaking and when I looked around, everything sorta rippled, like I was looking at a world of water. Black splotches appeared on growing trees and spread like a terrible blight. Birds take off from the trees, frightened by the earths shaking. Oil followed them through the air as it streamed off of their wings and tails. They couldn't fly like that, they fell to the ground, flopping and squawking in terror and distress.

I was so confused. I saw a trail through the woods and I knew I should turn back and go back to the house, but I couldn't stop myself as I started down the trail. A few feet along, I saw my grandmother and her boyfriend in the field and called for them, and they started following me. I still couldn't stop myself.

The trees all around me are black and slimy, I don't know how I know, but I know it's tar and grime. The ground was colored like a tortoise shell cat. The sky was a dark, dusky, haze of gritty blue, the clouds black. We tripped over slimy roots and stepped around abandoned spider webs. I heard a strange sound, and looked behind me and to my right. I saw what must have been a cat, with glowing green eyes. It was a bit bigger than a normal cat, and all black, like a half-sized black panther. It watched the three of us go by and growls and snarls but doesn't move.

Further along we exited the woods far to the right of the house where we all started. There was barn. It had been red, once, but the paint was mostly chipped off, the bare wood weathered and stained a very dirty and grimy gray. We slid open the big door and slipped inside. There were more cats here, but these were more domestic, and their eyes didn't glow. Not as much, anyways. There were other animals in there as well, but I didn't look at them.

When we reached the other side of the barn, and the next big door, we slid that open and stepped out... into a city. The walls of buildings are coated with tar and soot, as well. I saw what I thought were ravens, eating off a carcass on the left sidewalk (we were standing in the middle of the road.) I couldn't look away, especially when I realized that it wasn't ravens. It was minature (like raven sized) black Friesians, with long black wings and sharp teeth, eating that carcass. It is at this point that I wake up and go "Wait what?"

For those of you who don't know what a Friesian is: Look here at this Wiki Page.

This is all for now. Sleep tight, and don't let my should-be-nightmares hurt your night. I call them should be, because while they should be frightening, they really aren't. Not even this dream was actually scary. Just... there. Like "OK."
